SHD_Umbra's progress thread - Miniatures and Scenery

I am the worlds slowest terrain builder  I do have a thread that I’ll post anything up on though!

The aviator and backup are looking great! :+1:

You saw how long it took me to finish the brick building I did in my thread right? :stuck_out_tongue: It’ll be good to see more of your stuff when it’s done though!

PVC starter set Super Mutants done at last.

Not a fan of the PVC though - such a pain to paint. Too smooth and loses detail too easily. I think I’ll get the resin upgrade set at some point and change them up some so they don’t look too samey in my collection.

Have you tried the new GW contrast paints, seem to be good for supermutants and deathclaws not sure about the BOS

The resin starter minis are definitely nicer quality, though I think the pvc is a good choice for helping people get into the game if they haven’t got much experience with miniatures before. I did a bit of re-posing to my pvc ones, and found they’re good at helping bulk up my super mutant forces on the tabletop

Those look great!
I like the PVC as a boxed set game, I agree with Alaiteir it’ll bring in new players. But the detail on the resin is so much sharper, well worth the upgrade cost for me.

I have both and use the pvc ones to demo

Those look really good! One day I’ll get motivated enough to finish my pvc set. I was thinking of upgrading at some point too, I didn’t mind them much at first but after getting a few of the resin sets there is just no comparison.

It’s been a slow week on the Fallout front. All I’ve managed are some radroach swarms and a couple of glowing ones:

I like the idea of mixing a few glowing radroaches into the swarms!

Thanks, it’s so I can use them for either kind of swarm.

Spurred on by encouragement from my wife, I’ve finally gotten around to painting up my Super Mutant Master - “Wiz the Mighty”.

All I need now to finish him off is a stop sign decal.

Considering his Quantum armour, I’m tempted to call my warband the Nuka Mutants.

Every time I see him with that cone on his head, I think to myself “He needs a strap so it doesn’t fall off.”

Seriously though, it’s looking really good.

Today’s project work was to finish off Hammer and my second Brute.

I went for the fallout 3 look for the brute, but for hammer I tried to make his armour look like he salvaged road signs from around Boston.

I think it needs more weathering and rust, but what do you guys think?
