Gratifying to hear that those that invested in the game early on maybe didn’t waste their money.
Yet, with how the models and cards don’t seem to fit together in any recognizable pattern (the cards are pdf in wave 1, wave 2 and such and then the physical packs all have cute names for instance) I feel like I probably won’t be buying much more than the basic set and couple of boxes I have purchased thus far, rather than the several hundred I had thought of spending before looking into the state of the disunion further.
Sorry if this comes off as overly pessimistic, having suffered under it, I understand all too well how long running things up and down the chain of command takes.
Welp, maybe we could come up with a scenario on our own. Little homebrew thing.
Like have an unusual board, like 6x2’ with Liberty moving along a straight path. Its player has to support the robot by quickly defeating enemies and interacting with, I guess, terminals(?) or the robot itself along the way. The opposing player will try to destroy/damage Liberty before it reaches the edge.
I just realized some similarities between Liberty Prime and OGRE. You’ve got this massive, overwhelming mechanical beast and an army of little guys trying to stop it. You could adapt some of the free OGRE missions with either AI or an opponent trying to get Liberty Prime to a Settlement (command HQ) that sends an equal number of points worth of soldiers to try to stop it. They could come out in waves so you can recycle the normal troops as they’re destroyed by Prime.
They’ve got a document on the downloads page that track where the cards come from. As they have added faction after faction and supporting the older factions with new units and items and variations of existing units and items, they’ve got to add them to the new decks. The New Vegas punch out cards were a hiccup beyond their control. Their Chinese supplier’s factory had a fire. They’ve tried their hardest, a lot more than other companies, to help their customers and themselves adapt to the difficulties. How many other companies give away 90% of their game resources for print and play?
The Commonwealth and Upper Commonwealth cards should be ready at the same time as the corresponding models. Plus a lot of the Commonwealth models already have unit cards in the Into the Wasteland supplement and I imagine they’ll be in the physical decks for Commonwealth (Q4, 2021) and Northern Commonwealth (1st Q 2022?) along with cards that were in OOP decks like the Settlement Deck.
The downside to licensed IPs I guess.
A lot of things have to go across the desk of other companies and you can’t chivvy them as easily as Bob down the hallway.
I do not envy having to deal with customers on the Internet, you can’t please everyone
I’m just happy we are in the position to complain about rules for Liberty Prime! considering the only attempt I’ve seen before in producing Fallout miniatures is Brother Vinni’s.
The documents were submitted for approval on the 25th May and has yet to be given the greenlight.
Its frustrating, but until Bethesda say yes, we cannot provide the rules.
We are continuing to talk to them about how we can speed up the pace of written content approval as it is impacting our release cycles and we have several products that are ready to go and we cannot release them.
I’ll be the first to shout when its out, but beyond that all I can ask is ongoing patience.
@GateKeeper good work on the Prime stats you posted. Played through a Liberty Prime scenario this weekend and it worked out really well. We were using a co-op style mission where we allied with Prime to take on a huge enemy force to capture a command center. We had a lead up mission where he suffered about 6 damage before he was “powered up.” So he was walking in with about 19 health and two nukes. Prime and our team of 3 was able to take out 3 deathclaws, 4 1st recon, Legate Lanius, and about 6 legion troops with two mongrels. (This was the final battle of a 15 mission campaign played on a 8ft x 2.5ft board). Prime was the “objective” for all enemies to kill so he became a massive damage sponge but survived with about 9-10 health. If you were playing against him you NEED weapons that roll a lot of black dice the 4-2 defense is super strong and most hits bounce off (which makes sense). I think you have the stats fairly well balanced Prime should be super hard to kill but still possible we had a deathclaw put 2 damage on him back to back and it looked like he may be killable with a few more attacks. Nice to keep you on the edge of your seat. I did back down the damage on Prime’s melee as I was worried he would wipe the entire board to quickly. I have a card and weapon PDFs for what we used. I will attach that so everyone can use it or edit it for their own games. Again great work!
I appreciate all the heavy lifting you did! I would have had no idea where to start! Just started a new thread with some deathclaw variant cards as well (albino, glowing, some unique named bosses etc.) I uploaded the pdf so anyone can print them and the attacks. Glad I found the forum have been doing all this stuff for our co-op play throughs good to be able to share some of it.
