Liberty Prime Scenario

I guess it’s just such a shame the whole project was neglected by Modiphius for so long in the first place.

In your own words it had been continually “pushed back by other things that are a higher higher priority due to the release schedule” only to be STARTED in October ‘20 - a full YEAR after the model shipped.

So, yes, you are at the mercy of the Bethesda approval team, but let’s be honest - Modiphius dropped the ball by deprioritising actually doing what they had promised.

So any further update on when this will be posted. It seems like it was about two weeks ago that they posted on FB that it would be posted soon.

Maybe today? Its Friday, so would fit with an falloutfriday post

It is supposed it was done, it was waiting the Bethesda’s approval to be released… but 3 weeks ago was passed by Bethesda. Maybe it needs some fixes, or maybe it is the layout… but it is supposed it was finished and sent to Bethesda long time ago. There are no news about what’s happening

In on the 6th of August 2019 with the launch of Liberty Prime, we were told the scenarios featuring Liberty Prime would be released “later in the year.”

Despite that promise, work didn’t even BEGIN until over a year later in October 2020. No apology from anyone at Modiphius for dropping the ball and not, you know, actually doing anything they had promised, yet had happily taken customers money for but I guess… ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Oh but we got to hear Jon complain in a podcast that he was “sick of hearing people ask where’s Liberty Prime” - thanks Jon, that meant a lot.

This whole time customers who have given Modiphius money for a game product THEY CANNOT USE IN THE GAME have waited, and waited, and waited.

It is a testament to the detached indifference and lack of empathy for their customers that they thought it would be ok to say “Hey we’ve got the approval, but we’re not going to give it to you until our designers have prettied it up”

For the love of g** - I’m pretty sure anyone who has waited this long would be happy with the rules/scenarios in a text file, so they can actually start using the product they paid for over two and a half years ago.

Release the rules we paid for - pretty them up at your leisure, BUT GIVE THEM TO US NOW.

Honestly, I’ve stayed out of this but I am getting a bit fed up now.

I also bought Liberty Prime and am waiting for the rules but, you know what? I’d rather wait for something finished that the designers are happy with than something that is rushed and needs more corrections. Rules that would give most people in this thread something else to moan and complain about.

It’s a bit rich to talk about a lack of empathy from Modiphius when you’re posting in a thread that is pretty much all attacks on Jon Webb and the other folks at Modiphius.

@Modiphius-Jon : Care to weigh in on any updated timeline on when we can expect to see this?

Speaking for my posts in this thread, calling out Jon’s comments as being glib or insensitive is not an attack on Jon. I’m sure Jon is a great guy - he certainly seems to be, ditto any Modiphius staff I’ve heard on podcasts or seen on streams.

Similarly complaining about the actions (or lack thereof ) of a company is not an attack on its staff.

What is galling is that at no point ever has Modiphius or any representative of Modiphius apologised or recognised that they dropped the ball on Liberty Prime. I’m not talking about the Bethesda approval period - I’m talking about the fact that work on the project didn’t begin until a year after it went on sale.

The only communication from Modiphius was c/- Jon. Pointing out that his comments were glib, or insensitive is talking about the comments, not the person.

I think this is a mix of hubris and bad luck. The last few years have not been kind to any of us.

The situation with Liberty Prime has been a perfect picture of things done wrong, but for the right reasons. They wanted to give us something special, and it all went sideways on them in spite of their best intentions.

The times I’ve read statements on this from them, or seen videos talking about it, I’ve always had the impression that they feel as helpless as the rest of us about all of this. They wanted to present us with an amazing model, something we could proudly put on our tables, and that they could feel proud that they were able to make it happen, that they could give so many of us so many hours of enjoyment painting and playing with the piece. Instead I get the feeling that the rug was sort of pulled out from under them, and they’ve increasingly felt as frustrated with the situation as the rest of us have.

The only thing I would blame Modiphius for is their over eagerness to get us the model before things were completely ready to go. And I would sincerely hope that this is treated as a learning experience to hopefully avoid the possibility of something like this happening again.

Modiphius: I ordered the model when it first came out, I built it and it’s among the few models I’ve fully painted. I love the model, it’s a beautiful piece, and I have zero regrets at having bought it when I did. It’s the best paperweight I’ve ever owned (I say this tongue-in-cheek, and perhaps as a playful ribbing, not with any animosity.) Do your best to keep us in the loop about what is going on. Yes, we’re still going to be frustrated with the situation, but we’ll respect the honesty and getting to be part of the conversation. The comments above (My own included at times) are born of frustration for a game we all love, if we didn’t care, we wouldn’t feel the need to vent.

I know everyone is anxiously awaiting the drop of the scenario. Months ago we wrote up a 3 part scenario for Prime. A scavenging mission for parts, power up mission, and then a giant final battle. (I attached the power up mission details below). If anyone would like more info or the other missions let me know. We had a fun time with it and got to have the giant hit the board

Intro: The team has been consistently running into issues with power up tests overloading the system. A preprogrammed drop of 10% power systematically throughout power up should maintain system stability until full power up is achieved. The main danger here is overheating. A tremendous burden is placed on the system hardware to achieve this. 5 co-linked computer systems must be maintained, shifting between each other as the lead power sponge when close to reaching maximum operating temperature. There must also be adequate space between each setup to prevent additional heat. If the system levels can be maintained throughout the entire power up it should prevent any damage to Prime’s hardware.

Goal: Hold off the Legion attacks and maintain system temperature long enough for Prime to be fully powered up. 5 turns until power up is complete.

Mechanics: All computers are placed yellow from each other and numbered. At the start of each round one computer is randomly chosen to be automatically overheating. A luck dice is then rolled until a luck symbol is shown. Each failed luck roll equals one additional overheating computer.

A successful computer skill tests prevents over heating of that system, a failed test shows it was harder to resolve the issue the overheating symbol is removed but 1 action is lost (if two actions have been used already next turn the character only has one action instead of their typical two), an X means you overloaded the system and next turn there will be one additional computer overheating (in addition to the random one each turn and the luck roll machines). You have 2 rounds to stop the overheating or that terminal is fried. Each fried terminal drops Prime’s health by 3. By causing damage to his hardware and operating system.

Every Legion unit that makes base-to-base contact can choose to “Sabotage” by using two actions to lowers Prime’s health by 1 (if one action has been used already next turn only one action available). Unending wave of Legion attacks until prime is powered up. First round 3 arrive then 2 then 1 however for each dead unit another one arrives to replace them. They attack from left or right opposite last deployed unit.

Squad: In addition to your squad of 2-3 people (depending on cap values) you can add 2 turrets or a scientist to help.

We set Prime’s health at 25 (if you look on this tread back in December I attached a PDF with the character card we used).

Hope this gives you a mission to try out until the official scenarios are released!

@Modiphius-Jon : We are still eagerly waiting on anything resembling news on this front.

Such a fun rule set, I love the panicked evacuation when it takes too much damage

All other cards just went live. There are some errors with icons, but a really interesting unit

Long time lurker, first time posting, but felt it needed addressing. With the length of time it took to get us the materials for Liberty Prime, how is it that such significant errors slipped by with releasing the unit cards. Come on folks, you can do so much better then this.

Also though I highly appreciate the fact that you release these things for the community to print ourselves, why do you not release these ganged cards with the proper bleed added. It would make printing them much easier and accommodate any printer alignment shift that can occur. As someone who works in the design and print field it makes my brain itchy with the way you release these.

I’ve noticed some issues with the cards:

  1. stomp, punch, and laser all have a vault boy on them with a white background. Not a functional issue, just aesthetic
  2. The active defense matrix has 2 “damaged” cards, but no undamaged card
  3. There are 2 “Liberty Prime II” unity cards, and no “Liberty Prime III” unity card.
  4. The MK28 bomb is not equipped on any of the Liberty Prime unit cards. So it’s not clear how that weapon gets equipped by a non-AI. Since the AI card does have it equipped.

Here’s a review of the new rules expansion and a breakdown of how to use Prime on the tabletop!

Yup, looks like it! Now Prime has been properly added to my squad builder as well!

I think they did a great job with the mechanics of prime! We made some home brew rules and it is tough to make him as strong and as destructive as he should be on the battle field without making it impossible to play against him. I think the MK28 being 8 damage green radius is crazy but I guess the best option is stay out of the way! Good job overall Modiphius!

P.S. Any plans to add prime to the app at some point?
