No and I don’t think I will create one. This would take too much time and I like to use this time to paint and create scenery instead
I have an instagram-Account here: https://www.instagram.com/aut_ulricson/
It always blows my mind how abysmally bad even the best paint jobs look at the 50% mark. Seeing these motivate me to finish my BOS Core.
It’s hard to keep going when they look so bad, even when knowing they’ll quickly get much much better
Do you often seal your MDF in PVA glue or was it just to make the crackle effect work?
is there are any good guide for sealing MDF with PVA clue? paint soaking MDF is problem for me ((
I only sealed it to prevent the soaking of the crackle-spraypaint (I tried it out on a spare piece of MDF and it didn’t do anything to it, so I sealed it.
As I’m painting 90% of my scenery by Airbrush and don’t wash the MDF, there is no reason to seal it with PVA glue. If you want to wash MDF you have to seal it first. I tried it a couple of times and it is just a waste of wash. It is soaked in immediately and doesn’t do anything.
I dont’t know if there’s a guide for sealing with PVA glue, maybe on Youtube. I just water down the PVA glue about 50/50 I guess, mix it and paint the whole model with this mixture, let it dry and repeat it 2-3 times.
thank you, Ulricsons. i will try this and will see what it is looks like
crackling effect and checkerboard floor is awesome. looks very natural for me.
It’s looking really good. Once you get this table built, I’m throwing down the gauntlet for your next challenge: Megaton!
Thanks! After I finished all this lose terrain I will have 2 project-Ideas:
• Dense city terrain
• Something “vaulty” (this I will also use as Zone Mortalis for Warhammer 40k / Necromunda, so I have to build it as neutral as possible with several genre-specivic terrain-inserts)
A Megaton-build sounds exciting but difficult to store
Yeah, Megaton would be difficult. I would think you would want to leave out the outer walls and just do the structures on the inside. But even then, the complex series of catwalks and steep elevation changes would be rough.
Here is an example for a Necromunda Underhive map setup from me. There are several levels conected with walkways. Maybe something like that…
Yeah, that’s about right. You’d probably have to do some custom scratch building for the bomb at the center, and then put the radioactive pond around it. I feel like getting that feature and the restarant/bar that’s right across from it would be the most important details. Putting up little shacks and catwalks around the edges would probably be enough to get the “feel” of Megaton.
I love your work, this is really excellent, an inspiration to my next board, hope i will be able to do so much details like you did …
Dumb question, I assume the garbage paper floating about is just actual paper cut to size and glued on?
That’s right. It’s shredded paper
stripes from my office which I cut so small bits. Simple as that.
I soaked it in watered PVA-glue with some brown paint in it and put it on the scenery.
