I’ll say I am very surprised that the Klingon book will actually be a full rulebook and sourcebook. Not that I won’t be buying it, I have already contacted my FLGS. But I really do think separate core rulebooks would be a mistake except for a very few exceptions. I definitely want to see source books that cover the settings such as the Romulan Empire. I’d really like to see separate Star Trek era books. I’d love to see a TOS sourcebook with expanded material and maps geared toward TOS. But I also think that TNG and DS9 deserve their own separate sourcebooks. TNG is ship based and can be filled with exploration and can be filled rules and guidance about that. While the DS9 sourcebooks could expand on stations themselves as well as merchants and traders. Voyager and Enterprise would easily fold into the TNG and TOS sourcebooks. That is a lot I know, but as a last few ideas, an Alien sourcebook covering the “not so major” races such as Tholians, Gorn and Cardassians.

Yes I know, I want a lot :innocent:

In this case, it allows the print ruleset to catch up to the pdf releases that have had errata applied, and I really like the idea of character generation that doesn’t involve being a part of Starfleet. I’m still hoping one day we see a sourcebook on civillian life in the various quadrants - the idea of having a traveller-style game using this system is interesting; having to forge your own path out in space that’s not as well policed by any government and having to deal with various trade syndicates and criminal organisations while trying to earn enough of a living to keep on flying would put a really fun spin on things. Not sure if there’s enough of a market for that sort of game though…

Sure there is! Star Wars, Traveller, Star Frontiers, Firefly…lots of games for that style of game.

I’m sorry, I realise there’s plenty of games that provide that experience. I was talking about a STA supplement that would help to create those characters and flesh out the environments they would be adventuring in. It’s more about that aspect of the Star Trek universe than simply picking up [insert system name] to play.

I can see the appeal of a civilian supplement, actually. There have been a number of notable civilian characters along the way in Trek; a few of them have even been series regulars (Quark, Kes, Neelix, and even Seven and Phlox).

While the system as written works with characters like this (I have two civilian main characters in my own game), there’s a lot of sanding and filing and repainting that has to be done. A sourcebook that provides guidance and some specifically non-Starfleet/non-military chargen and advancement options would be most helpful at times.

Might consider such a product down the road, maybe if the Picard license comes into play, but not any time soon. Picard’s about the only series that has made any effort to focus on a crew of ex-Starfleet officers or non-Starfleet officers, outside the traditional scope of the Star Trek philosophies and experiences.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Can’t wait to see what comes down the pipe. :grinning:

I really think you guys should try to expand the lisence. as it is the lack of any discovery stuff for klingons felt a little… I dunno off?

I think they are constrained by the agreement with CBS/Paramount which only goes up to Enterprise. So currently Discovery and Picard are off limits.

Having them would be nice, but renegotiating the license would probably cost too much to be worth it for a couple of supplements.

I am loving the Klingon book so far. Star Trek is the 2d20 system I hadn’t gotten, but this book reeled me in. Already inside my playgroup there have been questions about Romulan and Ferengi core books as well.

The World of Darkness focused on one orientation with the same mechanics for 20 years. Star Trek can do it too. And it will only pull in people like me that can’t write for Federation player characters and make conflict interesting.

I’ll repeat my comment on the Facebook thread - pdf only releases for “fun to play” scenarios (e.g. a band of pirates operating) or for some of the other powers rulebooks (id like a Romulan core release, like Klingons, bit a cardassian only pdf would be great)

So, ENT crew was announced today, as were “more great Star Trek Adventures supplements arriving later this month, which include Iconic Villains”. Both to be released later this month, they say. Party!

Oh, and: Yay! Kobayashi Maru!

Edit: I would not be surprised (and neither disappointed) if at least one of the supplements was focused on Klingons. And if not: @Modiphius-Jim – if I may be so bold – please add that to your list.

Neither of the supplements are focused on Klingons, though General Chang is in the villains pack. Klingon standalone adventures are in development and will be released eventually, after the final core rulebook is released in print and PDF.

Does that mean that there will be an “Famous Villains NPC-Pack”?
KHAAAAAAN!

I didn’t realize the Klingon book was/is a full core book. Now you have all made my wife mad because I’m going to be sending more money into your bank …

That said, I’ll echo the other posts, yes I’d love a Romulan book. It doesn’t have to be a full core book, but at least a supplement book that I can mine for ideas would be great.

Now that you mentioned, MisterX, yes that would be great !

As a new GM to STA I’d love a full campaign book ready to play.

From what they were talking about in the Modiphius panel at Day of Honor, we’re getting one. I’m surprised it’s not been discussed here! They announced a full Shackleton Expanse campaign setting for next year, geared for both Klingon and Starfleet crews. It sounded fairly sandbox-y as well…

I would hazard a guess that this may explain why the Living Campaign has been in stasis for so long. A compiled book had been mentioned at some point, but it looks like it may be being expanded!

Yeah, the Shackleton Expanse campaign setting book is an evolution of the living campaign. You’ll see most of the existing living campaign content in the book in some form, along with a ton of new content.

That is so exciting! I can’t wait to hear more information

Chang makes a loooot of sense, as depending on era etc he could make a fantastic character. what if in a TOS set game a young “captain Chang” was an adversary to the crew?
or in a TMP era Klingon game he could be a patron/mentor figure (borrowing ideas from the old Klingon Academy video game)
