It will be great if we could see Era-centred sourcebooks
Birth of the Federation Era
Orignal/Disovery Era (Klingon War Era/Klingon Cold War Era)
and of course - Picard Era (I know that Modi has only rights to pre-2006 ST, but after merger maybe there will be some contract update…
And of course - Mirror Universe
A few quick hits–Delta Sourcebook will be out on March/April. It’s at the printers now then will head to distribution.
Most of the other ideas posted lately are all on my developmental wishlist. Doesn’t mean they’ll happen for sure, but I’d sure love to see some of them get green-lit.
Stay tuned for marketing announcements in the near future.
Codes for STO are only available by ordering the book through our website.
Any chance you can give a run down on what books have codes for what ships Sam? I know some STO players who might be intreasted in knowing that.
Also in lists of products we’d like to see I know it’s unlikely we’ll be able to get exact material for star trek Picard due to lisencing issues, but if at all possiable a book that basicly covers up to Picard’d be nice, perhaps while also giving us some stuff for STO stuff, Maybe call it “the road to 2400”?
Does that include the pdf, or just the print copy? I got the Print + pdf bundle from the initial preorder, but I haven’t got a code.
Of course, doing nothing more here than what’s been submitted a thousand times before; but yes, to echo Jaxa’s opinion, era-specific sourcebooks would be much appreciated. You cannot tell me, in all narrative logic, that Starfleet training from Chris Pike to Katherine Janeway’s time would be absolutely consistent. I can get the point that the century-apart educational systems might end up giving the same general skill set - from an STA standpoint, anyway - but there have got to be a huge number of options existing between the two. This could range from a simple “We must prepare for the inevitable war with the Klingons which we all know is coming” attitude in Pike/Kirk’s time to the “We must look upon vicious alien monsters as our friends” so common to the Command protocol in Janeway’s era. I’d love to see how Modiphius would interpret the RPG engine differences that could be cooked up between the eras, and to look at how the audience might interpret certain points in classic house-rule fashion.
Finally, the Mirror Universe. Yes, it’s been done before - sure, only in PDF but it’s at least publically available - but I’d like to see something that perhaps works in new canon material; that ENT episode where they had the whole story take place in the MU would be wonderful to see translated over to ModiphiusTrek, if such a thing is possible.
In any case, really looking forward to Gamma and Delta Quadrants as soon as possible, and also hoping that we can get the Modiphius gang heading over to Toronto, if any such thing is possible, for a chance to meet and pass on admirations, suggestions and requests personally.
Is there a specific convention in Toronto? I’d make a trip up there.
I imagine there is a con there. I know Vancouver and Victoria BC both having gaming cons can’t imagine Toronto won’t
I can’t speak to Toronto having a Con, but I know in Harrisburg, PA in October there is the Save Against Fear convention hosted by the Bodhana Group. I’ve run STA there since the playtest and just ran the Red Pit Conan adventure there this last October. It’d be nice to see “official” Modiphius interest there.
Still hoping for sourcebooks for non-Starfleet games. Klingons are a given, I’m sure. But with what LUG was able to do for Romulans (The Way of D’era) and Civilians (Raiders, Renegades & Rogues), I hope Modiphius can try to go down those roads, too.
The only one I know of is Breakout Con (https://breakoutcon.com/), but I haven’t been to it. Photos on their website suggest that they have a vendor/exhibit hall.
Some of the big media/comics/whatever cons (FanExpo Canada, Toronto ComicCon) have small amounts of gaming and large dealers rooms, but the gaming focus hasn’t been huge.
Maybe as PDF products down the road? I doubt Romulans and civilan-focused product would sell well enough as print products to make the production expense worth it. Klingons, maybe.
For my .02 cents
I would love a Klingon Source Book, One that would allow both Federation facing games as well as running games as Klingons against the Federation and Romulans.
At a close second is a Romulan sourcebook allowing the same. Allowing both games with Federation PC’s dealing with Romulan intrigue as well as games with Romulan PC’s against the Federation and/or other powers.
Why not a joint Klingon/Romulan book called “Alien Empires”
you’d have 1 chapter devoted to explaining the common differances between non starfleet and non romulan games in general. 1 chapter devoted to in depth info on KDP roleplaying, 1 on romulan Roleplaying, 1 chapter of of new traits, rules talent and space frames (for Space Frames I imagine you’d want to go with the D5 cruiser, D7/Kt’angia (this can be shared between both) the B’rel, K’vort, vor’cha and neg’vhar for the Klingons. for the Romulans you’d go with the T’liss warbird (the original one from TOS) the D7, the D’deridrix, and maybe to give another TMP era choice the Dhlan warbird from STO?
Alien Empires?
That would be fine, though the greedy fan in me would like both…
I’m just thinking that by doing both together it might make it more profitable.
Maybe “Print On Demand” route for anything that is unlikely to sell enough?
One of the reasons why a lot of the crowd I play with has a hard time “connecting” with games like these, is lack of visual aids. Tile sets work wonders, in this regard, and I would really really love to see tile sets that can be used in concert with Modiphius’ miniatures. (I know there are a couple, but expansions that not only include bridge/corridor/station sets; but also tile sets that can be used for away missions!
I really enjoyed LUG’s Roumlan boxed set “Way of D’era” and wished they had released their planned Klingon and (especially as they are a favorite of mine) Cardassian sets. I would love sets focused on characters of these powers, and I’d even consider one for the Dominion if it was able to expand beyond what was explicitly shown on screen.
