Please not this – I have always been glad novel Trek is not canon. No offense, but the Romulans were so much better in the Romulan Box Set for LUG and they are the ones, as far as I know, that came up with Jolan’Tru and the Way of D’era. Just stick to pure screen canon if you like, but not these dreadful novels, please. The DS9 novels also ruined the Andorians, thank god the writers of Enterpirse liked the Among the Clans version better.

I completely agree. The novels should be ignored, even if this angers some fans.

Individual, contradictory opinions are a thing of beauty. If we all had to hide our opinions, or all agreed, it would be a dull, dead world to live in. So, nope, no anger here. Only thing that ever bugs me is when people get abusive. Thankfully, I have not seen that here.

As to the novel point, I doubt they would ever be taken verbatim, even in the implausible reality where most fans demanded it. However, like many things they can provide a point of inspiration. From unlikely grains are pearls grown.

Besides, I mostly was using the concept to argue my strong preference for Robin Curtis over Kirsty Alley when it comes to my second favourite Vulcan. And I completely agree about the Andorians.

The thing to do with things like the novels, for me, is to take what I like and reinterpret or discard the rest. Same with FASA, LUG, ADB and Star Trek Online. All have gpod things in them or things that don’t fit, or are outright bad writing. Watching the shows, you can sometimes see parallels, others they go their own way.

Again though, this was largely to argue for Saavik and the RC version for the artwork and potential miniature. A Kruge mini would be cool, too, with his two main senior officers. Sorry to derail things.

Now that the Klingon core book has been released, I would like to see a Klingon centric adventure book.

A full book likely won’t happen, but you’ll see several Klingon standalones in the near future.

Will upcoming volumes of the mission compendium contain advice on how to convert missions to a Klingon group just like they use to give advice on how to set the adventures in different eras?

If not: Please let me add this on the wishlist.

Please let me add dice singles. Currently, only operations gold single dice are in stock at the shop, science blue dice are out of stock and command red not even listed. There were never single challenge dice, but only sets (and one of them has disappeared, the other one’s not even listed).

I always wondered why the dice sets consist of 3 d20. Yes, in my experience, most of the time you roll three dice (2 for standard and 1 for 1 point of Momentum) and the maximum you will roll is 5 dice for yourself (2d20 + 3d20 from Momentum) and one additional die for the ship you can give to someone else. So, yes, I buy it – you’re very fine with two sets for most of the occasions.

But, still, I’d love the opportunity to buy the sets plus 2 additional dice of each colour. Or two or three or five additional challenge dice (instead of 4 or 6, fixed).

Small run of dice restock on the way and will be sold in blisters with 2d20 and 4d6. No more singles–they’re too much of a hassle to stock and ship. Klingon dice are on preorder now and I’m hoping to get in a large reprint of department dice for next year. TBD right now.

Cool! So the combination of one department set with 3d20/4d6 plus such a blister will give me a perfect set of 5d20 (max on a normal roll without exceptionally circumstances) plus 8d6 which will also be fine for most circumstances. I appreciate!

Edit: Does it make sense to wait for the 2d20/4d6 blisters when ordering the Klingon dice? And will there also be 2d20/4d6 Klingon style? Or should I order now and place another order when the dice arrived? (end of edit)

I understand that. I know that there are several shops specialising on this kind of deal – is there any possibility one could order via those shops? That economic selling stuff is nothing I have a particular knowledge about, I’m just wondering. In case this is a stupid question, don’t hesitate to tell me.

The Klingon dice will only be available in blisters of 2d20 / 4d6.

To be precise: As Q Workshop seems to be producing the dice (at least the department dice) – would it be possible to allow them to sell singles?

(thanks for all the clarifications, by the way!)

i don’t know the licensing particulars for the Q-Workshop dice, though I know Modiphius sold singles of the dice. I don’t think Q-Workshop did which I assume to mean they couldn’t sell singles. I’m not sure they sold the dice sets either. I know I ran by their booth for a couple GenCons and never saw Trek dice. Could have just been out of stock, though, I don’t know.

The Klingon dice are produced by a different manufacturer.

Any guesstimate on when they might hit distribution in the US? I’d like to support my FLGS (those that are left) and plan on buying the Klingon set and I am curious about how long it may be.

I’ve been thinking about formats for aliens books. Modiphius has been clear that they don’t expect that there’s enough demand for a Romulans book (certainly not one of the heft of the Klingon book), but I was thinking about a series of (short, possibly-PDF-only) aliens books.

I was imagining maybe each book could have one major alien adversary (Romulans, Cardassians, Ferengi, Borg, Suliban), with a back-up minor adversary (Remans, Talarians, Pakled, Hirogen, Kazon, Breen, Gorn, Tholians) and then fill it out with a short adventure (or maybe only the seed of an adventure). I’d love to see each species’ weapons and ships get a bit of a spotlight. Include a bit about homeworlds, maybe?

I’m not sure where I’d put Orions in that list (major? minor?).

I’m not sure if that format means more people will pick them up or not. But if they’re successful, at some point you could collect them all together in an “aliens book” format.

BCing you

I would put Orions as major with Gorn as their minor.

Anything and everything possible from Star Trek - BUT - NOT done in the TNG/LCARS visual style. Done either in a “generic” format, or TOS. The STA Tricoder Set is a fantastic product - hoping for more such STA material in the TOS style …

The Book of Green.
