No trouble
Yes it’s more terrain, I’m afraid. I will get round to painting some more miniatures one day…honest…
Made a start on a diner, this will hopefully be built into a 1ft x 1ft tile. Then I’ll jut need to make 8 more and I will have a full board!
Still have the interior and detailing to finish, then the tile itself.

Good job on the diner. You’ve done a really good job of painting the sign, I had to open the pic full size to check if it was actually neon or painted. Good job, I love that kind of realism. Do you mind if I ask what are the dimensions of the diner itself?
Thanks I’d like to say it was good planning but it was just an experiment that worked out way better than I could have hoped for
I think it’s around 9 by 5 inches, I will check when I get home and give you exact measurements then.
Definitely don’t apologise for doing more terrain, paint whatever you enjoy painting (and besides, it looks great!)
What sort of interior detailing were you going to put in it?
Thanks
It came with a counter and I’ve had a go at making a simple hotplate to attach to it. Although that will need a bunch of clean up once the glue dries. I picked up some booth seats and tables from 4Ground at Salute, I’m hoping those will scale well. After that it’s a trawl through my stash of random extras to see what else works if it needs anything. Oh, and there will probably be a skeleton. It’s Fallout there needs to be skeletons
@CoopsMinis suprisingly, my estimate was nearly correct! The base plate is 5 by 8.5 inches and the outside of the diner is 104 by 197mm. (Switching to metric because, the fractions of an inch thing confuses me)
It’s made of 3mm mdf, and the height minus the roof is 70mm.
Thanks mate.
No problem
Made some good progress on the diner tile, this weekend. Added the interior details and made a start on the tile itself. Pretty happy so far
I love all the details! The skeleton with his mug and comic are a brilliant addition
Thanks I always like to add in details to try and make things looked lived in…and it’s Fallout, it needs skeletons
Yeah the details are what really bring it to life! Where did you get most of them, may I ask?
The skeleton is from eBob miniatures (http://www.ebobminiatures.com/fantasy.html) they are a little small, but work okay.
The pan, coffee pot and at least one of the plates is from scalelink (https://www.scalelink.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000002.pl?WD=pot&PN=Phoenix_and_S_D_Accessories_.html#aPHAB019 and https://www.scalelink.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000002.pl?WD=plate&PN=World_War_Two__SMA__1_35_Cast_accessory_sets.html#aGSA008) their advertised scales are nowhere close to 32mm, but as you get a variety of sizes of plates and coffee pots they can work.
The cash register was bought as a pack of O scale railway accessories from aliexpress, they came in a pack of (I think) 20 for not very much. Unfortunately they were attached to a table and had to be sawed off - the details are a bit lacking as well . The mug and the other plate came from a dollshouse set that I picked up from a local toy shop durng their closing down sale…which is a shame becasue it works well and I only have one left
The hot plate and extractor vent I knocked together from plasticard. They are also lacking in details
Hope that helps!
Ooh, those look really good… Don’t be surprised if you see some of those things turning up in my projects in the future
I’ve seen those skeletons a couple of times in the past and always loved them. Couldn’t resist the urge this time, I picked up a couple sets of them along with the little row boat in their store.
All of that said, your diner turned out really nice. Love it.
Look forward to it
Thanks
And, I have finally finished it. Well apart from a final coat of varnish!
Pretty happy with the final result. Just 8 more to go for a full 3ft by 3ft board I may not have thought this over as well as I could have…
That looks awesome! I love the leaves and tufts of grass scattered around. How did you do the plant pots by the door and the outside benches/tables?
Could you speed up making a full table by doing some of the tiles as relatively open/simple spaces, and then making some more detailed ones later to replace/swap them with?
