Sure, go ahead. And I guess it’d be interesting to see your interpretation of the concept. Sorry there’s not much else at Intermundia - I have ambitions to put more ship designs up, but I’m pretty lazy!
I’d guess you might want to credit Bill Krause as well, he’s the model-builder and artist that designed both the Shangri-La- and the Sentinel-classes that I merged for this one. I’d also recommend seeking out other stuff he’s done (Endurance, Wasp, Hood, Repulse) - he takes a more militaristic approach to vessel design (note the torpedo notch in the saucer edge of the Shangri-La), but he’s produced some of the best ship designs I’ve seen.
Playing the Starter Set mission in a Steamrunner class, USS Erebus. Currently just after the end of the Dominion War, Voyager hasn’t come home yet.
My players don’t know it but I’m working on a story where they encounter the Vaadwaur later on in Beta Quadrant. Any ideas on how to stat the ancient ships would be welcome.
I would also be interested in those stats.
My player are in the Delta Quadrant and their next great enemy arde the Vaadwaur.
Below is some material that you can use for your campaign (if you use a VTT program). I was planning on posting it in my VTT Repository post. Enjoy more is comming :
If there a people out there that have a Vaadwaur player ship ( Astika Heavy Battlecruiser, Manasa Assault Escortor Miracle Worker Juggernaut. I would be very interested in a Bridge invite to take screenshots of the interior.
For the record the Astika Heavy Battlecruiser and Manasa Assault Escortor Miracle Worker Juggernaut , and Pythys Fighter pictures are not my work I found them online.
So for the ancient Vaadwaur fighter, I ended up writing out the stats for every small craft on to 3x5 cards and synthesizing it into a comparatively fragile fighter with decent weapons. Like a glass cannon. Is this good?
Astronut, I know this is 2 months late, but things on the home front/COVID front lines have been hectic of late. Anyway, here is my write-up of the Arcadia-class I promised.
The USS Erikson (named for Leif), a Sovereign-class with Pathfinder & Recon loadout. Almost 10 years after the end of the Dominion War, she set out on a 5 year mission to gain a better understanding of the Gamma Quadrant by taking the long way, commanded by Starfleet’s first Bajoran Captain.
It most likely is a Hermes/Saladin, it’s just visually retconned as the Enterprise/Constitution class was visually retconned in DISC/SNW from its TOS look.
But the Hermes/Saladin having only a crew of three people was pretty ridiculous. Well, the Oberth class (which is even smaller than the Hermes) during the TNG era still had a crew of as few as 6 to as many as a couple dozen people, but still, that level of automation to allow for such a small crew is still 110 years away!
Without any ports on the saucer rim, it’s very hard to even gauge the Archer’s size - it might be just one deck through the diameter of the saucer, in which case it’s really pretty small. It has a similar configuration to the Saladin/Hermes classes, but it’s not necessarily meant to be one of those designs.
Which is precisely why I didn’t peg it as a Hermes/Saladin.
Given Federation design language, just about the only way to know a hermes/saladin will be identification on-screen by cast or on-screen display. Or by being an enterprise-matching saucer with but one nacelle.
I’d love to see both a Saladin and a Hermes ID’d …
My players started on a Miranda Class Light Cruiser, the Justinian in 2381. The idea was that it would be a ship the players would learn the game system on and then they get an idea on what other ships they might want to serve on it would move them to that ship. But they fell in love with the small crew size (only 36) where they personally knew everyone, the flying saucer style that reminded them of old black and white sci fi movies, and just that they were in a ship that made them the plucky underdogs in every encounter that kept hitting above their weight through silliness and grit. I chose the year because it was before we had seen Lower Decks and Picard so there was no canon after that point accept that Romulus might explode sometime in the future. It allowed me to make new interstellar political events that wouldn’t be confused with any canon up to that time. Plus for the two players that were versed in Star Trek they loved the idea we were moving forward in the Star Trek time line and not being placed in any of the TV series events.
As noted above my group is in the USS Kurosawa, an Akira Class ship. Apparently I’m not the only one that like puns since in the Stations brief mission (thanks for these wonderful free scenarios) a USS kurosawa is a main protagonist. They took the Kurosawa place. They are playing it right now and it’s very fun.
