Question regarding cubes / Feedback for a mission idea

Hey there,
tl;dr: Is it possible to create some sort of clone with a cube backup?

In detail: I’m planning a mission for my new player group. They have to investigate the kidnapping of a scientist who specialized in cube technology. In the past few years there were already attempted kidnapping and assassination efforts, once they even succeeded in killing her, but the haqqislamite government brought her back in a lhost body to continue her studies. Now, even with improved security measures, she got assassinated. The players are nearby the location, so as O-12 liaisons they get to investigate the case and will soon find out that the cube of the scientist is missing. Evidence leads to a group of bounty hunter mercenaries (still have to figure out who would do such kind of a job), but they evidently hat support from within to infiltrate her labs.
They will later find out by questioning said mercenaries or hacking their correspondances that a private person located somewhere in Varuna ordered the assassination.

I don’t know yet exactly how, but they’ll find that person and find out that it is indeed the scientist herself, who altered her appearance in beforehand. She found a way to delete the latest memories stored in a cube. When people tried to abduct her, she realized that her knowledge and mere existence is too dangerous, so she radically changed her appearance, got her cube removed and tampered with it to remove her latest memories of the past years to delete all scientific breakthroughs she deems so dangerous. She decided that it’s time to retire, but she knew that she’s too high profile to be left alone. So she decided to go to the black labs with her new persona, create a copy of her old self and spend the rest of her days in Varuna. From there she ordered an assassination attack on her “clone”, so that the world would think she’s gone once and for all.

Once they found her and incapacitated her hired bodyguards, the players, with their own factions agenda, now have to decide what to do with that information/the scientist, once they found out the truth.

So, two questions. One, very specific: Is that even possible? Could she make a living copy of herself? The second question is quite open ended and general: Are there any plotholes and/or ideas to implement to my mission?

That is the actual dangerous knowledge. And as this is the knowledge the clone copy has, that is still alive on Varuna, everyone will want to get hold of her.

Whatever she did research on before, the knowledge to selectively re-edit the cube of anyone is perhaps the most dangerous one available in the whole Human Sphere - even worse than Sepsitorizing someone.

As you describe it, this seems to be “no big thing”, but this is THE BIGGEST THING in the whole concept.

So I would be careful about this selective deletion knowhow.

Creating a copy with the same cube content in several Lhosts is - though usually illegal - well within the technological - and considering the Black Labs even the moral - scope, though.

So, the thing is, she can’t quite selectively delete specific memories, she found a way to cut them away starting from all most recent memories/thoughts. So, If she wants to delete memories of what happened two years ago,every memory leading up to this moment will be deleted as well. A bit like what scientists actually managed to do with snails, but this time with cubes. I think I die a poor job explaining this the first time.

The mercenary also got the specific instruction to destroy her clone’s cube, so that all world would think there is nothing left of her to bring back. She, herself has had a face OP and tries to hide incognito in Varuna.

Does all of this sound too extreme?
