Jamie's painting thread

Thank you guys so much for the advice. Excited to get started.

No problem, good luck and make sure you share your work

Just need a few more things than I am ready to get started. Do you suggest priming or assembling first?

I personally like to assemble before priming (since primer can make it harder for glue to stick to the surface), but I’ll sometimes paint and then assemble if the particular pose of a mini would make it difficult to reach certain areas with a brush. In the case of the mini posted, I’d personally assemble then prime

I bought about a dozen wooden dowels at local craft store and blue tack. Perfect for painting a bunch at a time

Yeah prime then paint for that model as there aren’t any hard to reach areas.

Alright finally got round to painting something else for Elder Scrolls, not Modiphius models so apologies if this isn’t allowed but here are some citizens I have painted up to replace the NPC tokens.
As usual feedback is very much welcome and appreciated.

Hi I wondered if you could tell me what glue you’ve used to glue the resin figures together, please

The best glue for resin minis is any cyanoacrylate superglue.

My preferred option at the moment is No Nonsense superglue with an activator.

I don’t know if you are based in the UK, so whether that link will be any use to you.

The activator is a catalyst which makes the superglue set pretty much instantly. You can spray the activator on one surface and let the excess evaporate, then put the superglue on the other side. When you put them together it will bond within less than 10 seconds.

Superglue or any Cyanoacrylate (CA) will work. Activators can help but they also make for a brittle joint, so use with caution. With CA glues less is more. A pinhead sized dot is usually all you’ll need. CA glues are also photosensitive and have a shelf life, so a bottle that is a year old will be about half as effective as a new one, and leaving them in sunlight will further reduce their efficacy. Look for new stock in the shops
