Where does the city of Karnath appear in REH's writing?

Can anyone tell me how Karnath gets into ‘Pirate’? I cannot find any reference to it in any stories, comentaries, anything, not even for Lovecraft. I know exactly where Kheshatta comes from, by comparison, but i’ve got nothing on Karnath. Anyone help?

Karnath is clearly Sarnath (Bokrug etc) from Lovecraft. Or at least it was inspired by Sarnath.

That was the impression I got as well.

Perhaps it was inspired by Karnath in Egypt. That’s my guess anyway.
