Use of GM offering Determination Points

Hi all. I have a question about using Determination Points with regards to Drives. How often do you think is normal to question a Drive/Drive Statement and offer Determination Points per character (lets assume a 3 to 4 hour game session) per session? I know it would depend on how often rolls are made and if the characters choose Drives/Drive Statements that conflict with actions, also how often they use determination points, but I’m looking to get players more invested in their choice of character Drives and Drive Statements. With That in mind, I would think at least once per game per character would be a good guess. Thoughts?

I probably had it at slightly less than once a session on average.

Near the start it was even less, but I did a house rule that meant my players chose a Drive Statement for all of their Drives. After that it seemed to pick up a bit more.
