Is Civilian ships on the to do list? So players (or NPCs) don’t have to use the standard space frames of governments? Exempting the Y and J class that are already in there.
It hasn’t explicitly come up before. I did, recently, add civilian ships to the “random starship” generator. The big downside is that there aren’t many examples of civilian spaceframes. Continuing Mission has the Merchantman and Xhosa. But beyond those, there aren’t many in canon, and even fewer (none?) with write-ups that I’ve seen.
The S.S. Fox, a Whorfin class transport operated by the El Aurians in ST:Generations
Sadly, everything else is named with no image or Antares (The Xhosa) or a Oberth.
There’s also the Free Spirit. But neither the Free Spirit nor the Whorfin have any spaceframe write-ups that I’ve found.
The Klingon book does have a freighter or two, and could probably be modified. Although I vaguely recall that what it calls the Par'tok type | Memory Alpha | Fandom is described as having different visuals. It also has the “Klingon Civilian Transport” which could be used as a base (probably with weapons swapped for engines, knowing Klingons).
I think Neelix’s ship might have stats? As an NPC Talaxian Freighter in the Delta Quadrant book? It’s in this list: Freighter | Memory Alpha | Fandom and could be used as a model freighter.
You can also use the UP book creation rules to just make a “civilian” spaceframe. Modify its stats as needed, and use UP’s “Civilian Merchant Marine” or “Entertainment / Pleasure Ship” profile.
Indeed. It’s on p. 85.
Indeed, I could use the pre-existing or modify something from UP.
However, I think players would like the customization the generator by BC provides.
Players can be traders, smugglers, business intelligence, prospectors, University scientists, etc and choose customizations from the generator to make their ship unique among their ship class.
@bcholmes sorry to bother you again. If I try to choose “Intelligence” at the Career, I get directed to Star Fleet Medical.
Never the less, I love your Charakter Generator.
Is the link working? I wasn’t able to log the character generator
Hm. I just tried it myself and didn’t notice an issue.
Are you using 1e? 2e?
BC
Are you using the URL that has “modiphius” in the domain name? If so, that’s the old one.

Actually, it was probably my fault. It works perfectly now.
Thanks!
Outside canon? What of FASA and LUG Trek starships?
Anyone having PDF print issues as of today? I can make the character, and I can see the character in adobe acrobat but I cannot print the character info. My printer when set to document + markups shows the text boxes as blank. However when set to forms only it shows only the text that has been generated but not the pdf layout. Have looked for help but can’t find anything!
You’re right. When I open the PDF’s it makes in the proper program (ie. one that will let you edit the fields), all of the text is there in the proper place. When I select a field, the text appears. I think the colored bars that are placed on each text line are placed on a higher layer. That is, the colored bar is placed “on top of” the text instead of the text placed on top of the bar.
Someone mentioned this to me on Github, and it looks like the culprit was an upgraded library for manipulating PDFs. I subsequently pushed a version that reversed that upgrade and I think it’s fixed, now.
I hafta submit a bug report to the PDF library folks (and see if I can give them a simple way of reproducing the error).

greetings,
Could there be an era specific option for generating equipment? Much as there is in fantasy rpgs the item imbued with magic that give bonuses, technology or supertech gives bonues too.
A 23rd C phaser is great, but a 32nd C phaser adjusts its own frequency and pulse modulation to match the opponents shields… righ?
