Star Trek Adventures Online Character Generator

After rolling for the CRB Species by Humans.

Encountered the same, on creating a main character, at the “Species” tab.

I will have time to have a walk-over over the spreadsheet at the coming weekend, at the earliest. Sorry.

Hm. There was a brief moment where I did do a copy-and-paste error on the spreadsheet, but I thought I’d fixed that up pretty quickly.

I’ll do a deploy in a few hours and hopefully that’ll fix it up.

Also, wow. I had no idea how many German-speaking STA fans there were.

I count at least four in this forums, alone, maybe five.

Edit, a day later: I’m walking over the translation table, but have problems finding pages to gather complete context for translations. My problems include:

  • ViewPage.view*
  • GMTracker.*

Anyway, there now should be a fairly working German translation within the Spreadsheet you linked. Please give us a hint when it has been implemented so my fellow German-speakers around can thoroughly test and improve it by detailed criticism of my work.
Disclaimer: I mostly worked purely on the Spreadsheet so context might be slightly off in some terms.

If you want to: Yes, of course. But it’s “MisterX”, not “Mister X”.
(But you don’t strictly need to…)

This is so cool. I confess that I was a little nervous about that special German sharp-S character (eszett?) getting encoded badly, but it’s worked out just fine. I’ll double-check it once I’ve uploaded a new version of the code.

The “view” pages are the ones where you can “view” a character or starship, like this one. The GM Tracker is an “in progress” tool to allow one to track information about different character.

Thank you so much for your help!

Now I just have to continue propagating translation throughout the app, which will certainly lead to more things needing translation.

Yes, that’s what it’s called. Trivia: It was lower-case-only until a few years ago, so even most Germans don’t know a) an upper-case version canonically exists or b) where to find it on a keyboard (it’s too new to be included into standard DE-keyboard layouts). So it’s the ẞ that you should worry about, not the ß.

Just kidding. If the Umlauts (ÄäÖöÜü) encode, the ‘sharp s’ (or Eszett, if you want) should encode as well. And since the German ‘Insight’-Attribute includes one (‘Gespür’), checking should be easy.

Also: Always use utf-8 (or even utf-16).

I’ll generate a few characters in a few days or weeks to find the occasional mis-contextualisation.

It baffles me that it’s not as ubiquitous as it should be (“I’m looking at you, Windows!”).

Do you have blank, fillable versions of your sheets for those who don’t want to go through character creation and just wanna make some quick pregens?

You can get the official character sheets from Modiphius, if you don’t want to use the very fine character creator app.

And the Klingon version too: Star Trek Adventures: Klingon Character Sheet - PDF

Yeah, but I like your versions too.

Can’t you just create one character and then clear the form? Hey presto, one fillable sheet that you can keep as a template

Tried it, still leaves the talents and role stuff even when I tried to delete it.

I just tested it, the 2 pager does indeed leave those. But if you have a pdf editor they can be deleted.

I’ve added it as an issue on github.

Aren’t there official sheets that are form-fillable? Could be easier to use these, instead…

They’re not 2 pages, and only have room for the names of talents and roles, not the full ability text.

That generator is pure gold.

One of the things I appreciate about the generator is the Ship section if you do a Custom Ship Frame and type in Columbia Class, it has the outline of a Columbia Class on the ship sheet complete with the TOS undercarriage and Nacelles. Makes me wonder if any other secret classes exist.

There are a number of frames that aren’t standard. Some non-Federation frames, like the Galor and the Valdore. Some non-canon ships like Perseus and Pioneer. Some canon, but not statted ships, like the California and the Sagan.
