Neither the Shadow on the Wall or Children of Deketa Horrors have Display attacks (e.g. Steely Glare) but they both have Fear 2. Also they have very low Personality and Social scores so they should have a very low chance of success with their Display attack. Which does not make them very scary. Did I miss something? Are they supposed to use a different stat for Display attacks than Personality/Social? What is the base chance to resist their Fear effect with a Discipline test? I feel like something was missed on those two horrors.
Every creature should have a default Threaten attack. Otherwise Fear would be useless. The default damage of a Threaten attack is 2 dice + Personality bonus (which is 0 for the creatures you mentioned) + Fear bonus (which is 2) = 4 dice.
Beasts use Willpower + Fortitude for Threaten attacks (e.g. roars) instead of Personality + Social. But I don’t think this applies here.
The main thing about Fear is that if someone sees this creature, they must immediately make a Discipline test with difficulty equal to the Fear score (2 here). If they fail, they suffer damage from the creature’s Threaten attack. This only has to be made once per scene per creature type (although multiple creatures may increase the difficulty).
Thanks! I had used the default threaten attack (steely glare), but I could not find the note about using Will+ Fort for beasts. I knew it was something other than personality.
They did have to make the D2 Discipline test, at least that is what I thought was the Difficulty I used. I’ll listen again and see what I actually did. I remember that I wanted to increase it because there were 4 of them, but I can’t remember what I decided on. D4 maybe?

Seems good. If they are human-sized, I often use +0.5 Difficulty additional per dude (round up).
