Momentum at beginning of a combat

Hi everyone.

I’m brand new to the forums and to Conan and have a query.

In a new combat, do the PC’s start with any Momentum?

Not unless they have just generated some for some reason; like if you had the party struggle (obs v stealth) with the enemy to determine whether they’re ambushed, or something along those lines.

If the question is, simply, “does the party gain momentum when they enter combat?” The answer is no.
