Corebook Errata and corrections

Cheers. We got that one. Really annoying.
The Mentat talent list is a mess and one of the biggest errata notes.
But all the Mentat only talents listed in the talents section are correct, and should all be available to a starting mentat.

Page 117.
Scout Talents listed as Endurance, Stealth.

Neither of which seem to exist in the Talents chapter, pp. 126 - 131

Am I correct is assuming that Stealth = Subtle Step?

But I can’t find anything that obviously steps-in for Endurance.

Yup, we’re put this in the errata and its come up before.
Talents and focuses are just swapped over in the description.

This is from the Gamemaster’s Toolkit.

Page: 15
Table: Non-Player Character Allegiance
Entry: 10-11 - “The player characters summoned to the court of their lord or another important superior”

Quite clearly a copy of the 4th entry on the “Open With…” table from page 13, and which makes no sense in the Allegiance table.

Couldn’t find this on a search of the forum, so I don’t know if it’s been covered already…

Corinth Euler in the Harversters of Dune adventure, appears to have had his Drives and Skills and associated statements copied from Taryn Jellicoe. What should his Drives, Skills and Statements actually be?

The unofficial motto of the Faufreluches is wrong, the original from Frank Herbert is :
"A place for every man and every man in his place.”
Not what is in the rulebook:
"A place for every man, and every man has a place”
Which is something a politician could say today, but not in the Dune Imperium.
As it changes the meaning of a core concept (that the Dune universe is not egalitarian or democratic in any way) I think it should be errated.

Hey folks - first time poster here.

Just wanted to say this thread’s fantastic - it’s just what I was looking for.

Just curious if there’s any word of when the corrected print version will be available, if it isn’t already?

The pdf should already be updated and print copies will filter in as we do new print runs.

Thanks Andy!

I’ll have to keep an eye out. I’ll be keen to pick up an updated physical copy of the book when it’s been updated. I figure by the time I have money to spend again it’s bound to have been amended.

Pages 261-262, Chani and Liet Kynes entries conflict about Liet’s gender. Chani’s entry indicates Liet is male as in the books, while Liet’s entry is mostly gender neutral (presumably to fit the new film and books) but Liet’s traits indicate female (as in the film). I would suggest changing Liet’s trait pronouns to “they” to keep the ambiguity, and altering Chani’s entry to say “Liet’s spouse” and omit the name Faroula for consistency.

And as noted earlier, the Faufreluches mention is odd, “by the standards of the Imperium” or something to that effect would be more fitting.

Page 194, melee weapon assets. The kindjal entry is arguably inconsistent with Crysknife as both are described as about 20cm long (as in the books), but the kindjal has keyword “Long Blade” unlike the Crysknife.
I guess it is listed as a Long Blade to provide a “generic sword” and to avoid redundancy with other weapons, though since rapiers are mentioned in the books, it would be more appropriate to have another asset for those and keyword them as Long Blade.

Page 91 - House Traits, pages 241, 250, 255 - Houses Atreides, Harkonnen and Corrino.

The Houses Atreides, Harkonnen and Corrino don’t have traits corresponding to their primary domains and this is confusing. The House Molay example makes sense by rules as written, Artistic as per their domain.
Perhaps the canon House pages should be amended to have traits Farming (Atreides), Farming (Harkonnen) and Military (Corrino), in addition to their current traits?

Not really an errata there.
You can have different traits from what is suggested in the rules for your own House.
Houses can also gain, lose and amend traits as time goes on too.

Ok, retracting errata suggestion.
Makes sense the canon houses would’ve altered these though.
Incidentally there don’t seem to be rules for how House traits can be changed or altered, though i suppose GM/player agreement is always an option.

But one thing: i get that part where traits change over time but i don’t think there’s a suggestion for the first trait, rules-as-written say
“Each House begins with a trait for any primary domains it has.
This trait is the same as the area of expertise for that domain.”

Fear not, more house management is on the way

Is there a place to find all these gathered together and officially approved in a document of some kind?

or do I need to wait for my FLGS to get a newer print copy?

just now getting back to gaming this setting.

thanks

Indeed there is.
Not that is obvious, but if you look on the Modiphius store there is a link just under the core rulebook option that takes you to the Dune errata.

Or below, which is even easier.

wow… not sure how I missed that big blue button. thanks.

How many printings has the core rulebook had, and is there an easy way to identify the version of a physical book? Do they have different UPCs or ISBNs? Looking at online photos, I see some marked “printed in Lithuania” and others that say Czech Republic.

Also, how significant are the revisions to the current PDF compared to the latest physical printing? Is there a big difference, or just a few tweaks?
