Shield Use and Cover dice.

I posted this question first to the Google+ group, but I figure if we all have to move over here anyway, I should ask here:

I’m sure this has been covered many times, but to clarify Shields:

If a character uses their shield to parry, do they also get the inherent cover dice of soak in the event the parry fails or another attack hits them?

If a character uses their shield to attack (shield bash), do they also get the inherent cover dice of soak?

Yes, and yes. They lose the cover dice if they lose Guard, however, which may happen alongside those other actions.
