Need help finding a starting campaign

Here is the situation… the player who was to be our Captain dropped out. The player playing the First
officer will play the Captain he just doesn’t know it yet. Backstory has them at a starbase after the battle of Wolf 359 waiting for their new Starship and the arrival of their new Captain via shuttle. BOOM! shuttle explodes new Cap is dead, Number One gets promoted.

What I’m wondering is… is there a premade adventure that starts with the hunt for a suspect that I can start my players off with? Maybe a mystery, chase or something suitable?
I have all the books I just don’t want to search through all the adventures because I will pass the GM’s chair off after this campaign and don’t want to spoil anything when I become a player.

Do you or any of your group own the Starter Set? You could use this, simply let the Captain be brought in from the USS Alcubierre that is missing in the first part of the campaign. If the shuttle was blown up by some kind of bomb, it would be logical to follow the path to its source.

Spoiler ahead:

Maybe the Captain found something out about the Plot and was killed by the influenced Romulans before he could talk. This would even be consistent with the episodes the campaign is based on.

I’d say minimal effort to modify the background of the mission(s). And it’s a great campaign to learn the rules of the game.

I’ve been reading my way through the Starter Set campaign as well since I will be new to running the game and as MisterX mentioned it may work a treat for you with some minor tweaking.

Sounds perfect. I guess I need to buy the starter set. That will push me over a thousand spent on this game. You can’t say I’m not committed. (maybe I should be lol)

Thanks for the advice.

Don’t forget you can get the pdf version as well if you don’t need all the other bits and bobs that come in the box. I grabbed both and the starter campaign is it’s own pdf you can reference/print on its own.

Thanks for the thought Okami, I appreciate it. Theres just something about a physical copy and the extra dice I just can’t resist.
