This is a continuation of a previous post of mine. There weren’t any replies on that one, but I’ll keep going with it. It’s enjoyable for me right now. Hope this is helpful to someone.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by IDW.
Like Batman this is one that takes place in a modern, science fiction setting. So I find myself gravitating towards characters with archaic weaponry or are monstrous enough to stand in for Conan creatures. I will say that the more cartoonish look is distracting and may not be suitable.
Flying Mousers- Can stand in for a swarm of flying somethings. Crows, bats, etc.
Leatherhead- A particularly beefy serpent man variant or perhaps a Deep One.
Oruku Saki
Hamato Sons
Hamato Yoshi
Iron Demon Krang
Kitsune
Rat King
Wyrm
Foot Ninja
Mousers
Slash- Big monster type
Foot Elite
Karai
Foot Bruiser
The Dojo map tiles actually do work. I would suggest an overlay of some kind to change the squares into zones. Most of the other maps just feel too modern to me.
Rivals- Masters of the Deep
This is a more obscure one from Kickstarter. The art style isn’t quite right, and neither is the scale. HOWEVER, it does have some more unique aquatic style monsters. The boss units for each faction actually work fine as Deep Ones.
Vengeance
Hmmm. Another modern one. However, the art style meshes a little better than something like TMNT. Let’s see what we’ve got.
Meatboy Murphy
Assassin
Guard Dog
Bosses and Thugs from the Rosari Expansion
Tengu-Hai Bosses and Thugs
Shadowman
Katja
One thing of particular note is the boards are to the right scale and are divided into zones! With an emphasis on tactical combat no less! Unfortunately, once again most feel simply too modern to fit. Perhaps some of the interiors can be reimagined as a palace room or casinos into brothels.
Thoughts? Agree? Disagree? Anyway I can be doing this better?
