The Sidebar describes Zingara as “Reconquista-era Spain.
Doing some research, I feel this could describe 2 periods in Spain: the North-African Muslim+ Taifa-ruled time starting in the 900s/1100s or the later Christian reconquered time starting in the 1400s.
To me, having read every pdf text about Zingara, both are plausible. The art and dress are definitely influenced by the Muslim Taifa period.
? Thoughts?
I always saw the Zingarans as the late medieval Spanish and Portuguese. Them being divided but still being a naval power seems to point towards this as well.
Culturally I prefer to think of Zingara as pre-reconquista Al-Andalus. More of a melting pot
Does anybody have suggestions for films that capture Zingaran society, culture, et al, preferably not dealing with the age of Sail?
I am preparing to run Scout-themed adventures on the Zingaran frontier.
