Businesses on Federation Starbase

Eh, the Nelson, with its bifurcated pylons, never made much sense to me. It’s like someone had already seen the Hermes/Saladin by Franz Joseph and decided they wanted to make a new starship in the same vein but didn’t want to do anything too radical. “Hey, I know! I’ll just change the bow view by giving it a V-shaped pylon and keep everything else the same! That will surely look new and exciting!”

Incidentally, LeonardMcCoy, you already saw my links to my STA conversions of the Larson-class destroyer, Anton-class cruiser, and Loknar-class frigate, right?

Not that I am aware of…if I did, I surely have no idea where you posted them!

True, but at the time I had never seen the Star Fleet Technical Manual. There are parts of Franz Joseph’s imagined Star Trek universe which I also prefer to CBS and Paramount’s ideas. Nowadays I really like the Hermes, Saladin, and Ptolemy, though I’ve always thought the Federation-class dreadnought looked ridiculous with that top-mounted third nacelle.

Then you’re in luck. I recently had three articles of FASA ships published at Continuing Mission, with more on the way.

You can find the Andor-class Missile Cruiser, Thufir-class Destroyer, Loknar-class Frigate, Ticonderoga-class Light Cruiser and Wilkerson-class Destroyer here.

You can find the Northampton-class Fast Response Frigate, Kiev-class Fast Response Frigate, Remora-class Escort, and Charger-class Destroyer here.

And you can find the Anton -class science cruiser, Baker -class destroyer, Larson-class destroyer, and Ranger-class scout here.

My next two Continuing Mission FASA Fleet articles will have FASA Klingon and FASA Romulan ships, respectively. The Klingon ships will be: the D-10 Riskadh-class assault cruiser, the D-18 “Gull”-class destroyer, and the L-24 “Ever Victorious” battleship. The Romulan ships will be: the V-7 “Whitewind” cruiser, the V-11 “Stormbird” cruiser, the V-30 “Winged Defender” cruiser, the V-33 “Thunderbird” cruiser (fan-made ship so that’s why you never heard of it) and the Z-1 “Nova” battleship.

I’ve fan-designed about 28 STA ships in the last couple of months, some from FASA, others from the TNG “Lost Era,” and I’ll be making all of them available for download in the weeks ahead. I’m coordinating with Continuing Mission to find ways to make them available.

Hey, thanks, I appreciate that! I hate trying to stat out starships.

And after reading some of The Lost Era and post-The Undiscovered Country novels, I’ve been thinking about running a game set in that period, so any starships and other material will be very handy if that comes to pass.

Email me at cfduque@verizon.net and I can give you a sneak peak of the Lost Era ships. I just finished them yesterday. (Although I don’t know if they quite qualify as Lost Era; I had these ships commissioned between 2349 and 2358.) The classes are the ones that were kitbashed for the graveyard at Wolf 359: Challenger-class, Cheyenne-class (I know this one was done before but I put my own spin on it with acknowledgements to Mephit James’ version), the Niagara-class, the Springfield-class (with individually detailed mission pods like the Nebula!), and the Freedom-class (24th century version).
