I am a little late but I am reading the operations division handbook just now.
On page 24 there is a personal log by one Commander Simone Giertz.
This can not be coincidence, this surely must be a reference to her (linkt to YouTube), right?
sometimes a name is just a name. it could be a homage, these things happen in gaming (I know one person who when writing a section of a book for battletech used the entire lineup of the Carolina hurricanes as their source for names) but it could also have literally been a name grabbed from a phone book
