Check out the Discovery campaign guide. There are some Section 31 goodies and spaceframes in there.
What’s the general thought on creating “collated” subject books? For example, the Utopia Planitia spaceframes book will (presumably) collect all (Starfleet) spaceframes in published books so far, and probably add new ones.
But is that something that would be done for, say, species? (4 quadrant books, series character guides, etc. leaves a lot of species in various places). Or something like an “intelligence” guide/sourcebook as @ImageHunter007 suggests above? Section 31 items, a few roles, and info on “foreign” agencies all appear in various spots, but is there demand, or willingness from Modiphius, to make subject-based collections?
I could see it being useful for people who don’t want to buy full books, but I could also see Modiphius wanting to get full $ for those books, instead of a lesser amount for collections.
I feel like that would be frustrating for those who have the majority of the other products - no doubt there would be some new content, but paying again for a lot of repeated content just to get a few new additions is pretty feel bad
Given that we’re keeping the majority of books in print for the foreseeable future, and that the character app has all the species in it, and that there are many fanmade indexes out there, unlikely that Modiphius will do additional books that reprint all that content. Starships book is a bit of an exception, for reasons.
I like the idea of collections based on subject, especially in a PDF form. I plan on making a master
PDF in the future so small collections that I can download and insert into any section I’d like would be welcome.
You can do that now, really. Grab the pdfs of the books, cut and paste into a personal use document, done.
I haven’t tried it yet but it seems like something that would be useful. Is that something
I’m allowed to do?
Given that Modiphius staff just told you it was fine, yes. The problems start if you share that “personal” document. There are some collections of documents out there, mostly on the Continuing Mission site, but I think they all try not to be “too” useful, to ensure that people still want to support Modiphius by buying books. (And to avoid the ire of Modiphius, but I think it would probably start with a nice ask to take something down if it was too much.)
NPC Cards would be great. I’m tired of constantly flipping through books. Also, some kind of card or PDF for Supporting Cast/Crew and cards (maybe tarot-sized) for ships. You know, things that make combat move quicker.
There won’t be any “problems” from me.
I totally wouldn’t object to a starship book. One with maybe more fluff about ships - like size and other stats - but also many many examples. Included an expansion to ship construction.
You must have missed the teaser in the Modiphius newsletter that there’s a starships book coming out this fall.
I totally did! But that sounds awesome and thanks for the heads up!
Could I add that I hope some day there is a Psychic Book. I think psychic characters (with maybe genetically enhanced/augmented also present) is a little tapped into treasure trove of potential fun and enjoyable gaming content. Right now we have a smattering of talents from a number of different books (of which I all own cause I want more psychic stuff) and having a book about this topic would be quite useful, entertaining, and fun.
It’s been on my development wishlist for years, and so far, I haven’t seen enough stuff in canon to be able to fill a book and do it justice. Given that Gwyndala, The Diviner, and Hemmer are all new characters with some form of esteric talents yet to be fully defined and illustrated, I expect we’ll see more useful content soon.
How about some non-humanoid or non-carbon based species options for life path creation? And I mean more than just the Xindi-insectoids… something like the Horta, or the Tholians, or the Metrons, or even the Medusans… those are all non humanoid and non carbon based life forms…
We already have Tholians (and changelings). The other TOS era species you listed I hope to get to eventually. Just need to find the right product to place them into.
Would like to see:
A Qutermater sourcebook - a equipment book covering equipment not in the core rules, giving more info on phasers ( TOS, DS9, TNG, and Movie ones are different (The DS9 ones with a front grip have different settings than the ones see in TNG without the grip, the movie ones have less settings, TNG and VOY one have some sensor apparatus on them for scanning for example in a few episodes.), cover other weapons in the various series not shown in the book, other shuttle craft like the aqua shuttle and some that show up in the animated series. (You see a couple of new small craft in the hanger bay of one of the animated episodes.), info on ground vehicles, some info on cybernetics, and guidelines on using equipment and what equipment a starship would carry for crew to access
A lot of items show up briefly in only one scene of one episode. (example, the mortar like device used in Arena.)
Crew books - covering minor crew members that show up frequently in episodes and those not covered in the existing crew books.)
I would like to see something on the kelvin timeline… including ships and tech such as Narada, the jellyfish, and red matter…
Just putting another vote in for a Romulan source book.
